Herbal formulations should be respected for their medicinal properties just as you would a prescription drug. If you are taking any prescribed medications, or are pregnant or nursing, you should check with your doctor before using any of these formulations. Some common herbs which require respect (and the product's brand name which we are selling) are listed below. Cetyl Myristoleate (Myristin) Not for use by pregnant or nursing women, or by children. Echinacea Not for use by pregnant or nursing women, or those taking immune-suppressing drugs (like Cyclosporin), or those with auto-immune diseases like Lupus or M.S. Ephedrine (Breathe-Aid) Do not use if you have heart disease, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate problems, depression, or urinary difficulties. Also, do not use if you are taking a prescription MAOI, or have Parkinson's. Do not exceed normal dosages, and with any reaction such as dizziness, headache, shortness of breath, or rapid heartbeat, discontinue use immediately. Not for use by pregnant women or under 18 years unless doctor recommended. Feverfew Avoid before and after surgery as it can raise bleeding risk. Do not take if using non-sterodial anti-flammatory drugs such as aspirin. Pregnant women and those allergic to ragweed are advised against usage. Ginkgo (GinkGold) Do not use if you have a bleeding or blood-clotting problem. Never combine with any other blood-thinning medications, as it could cause internal bleeding. Do not use if you are having surgery soon. Glucosamine Do not use if you have any allergic reactions to shellfish. Iron Avoid any excessive use by children under six years of age. Can cause severe poisoning or even death to youngsters. Saw Palmetto (Prosta-Care) Men should be sure to consult their physician to rule out prostate cancer, and talk to their doctor first if using Procar. |
