Beyond The Physical By Robert Hermstad, Previous owner of Sullivan Creek Dist. You've probably come to this site looking for information on products that will help you deal with your health. This is a very real concern for virtually every one. We certainly have products that can help in various ways in this arena. But there is more to life than just the physical aspects. That's what this section of our site is about - Beyond The Physical. Life is filled with problems. Many of them relate to our physical health. We experience diseases of many kinds. We encounter accidents and other frustrations rations. The 'sun' is not always shining with its warmth and brightness each day. With the clouds of life come some storms - that can be very difficult. When troubles come, as they always will, many of us find ourselves wondering how to deal with those troubles. How do we get through this? How do we respond to difficulties? This can be especially true when it comes to our physical health, so we look for remedies, cures, treatments, etc. to help us cope. And we spend a lot of time and money in this quest for health. There is another side to life, however, that we somehow seem to miss or to ignore. It is the spiritual dimension of our existence. Every person has a 'spirit' within them. And that spirit, while deeply involved in the physical side of life, is different from the physical part of us. Some call this the soul. And whether you recognize it or not, it was placed within you at your conception by a being often referred to as God. If you believe what The Bible says in Genesis it states that God 'created' you, and breathed into you the breath of life - and man became a living soul. In fact, it also says you are created 'in His image', implying that you are a spirit. (John 4:24 says, "God is Spirit...") This spiritual side of life is a critical part of our existence. Yet for many it is difficult to comprehend. Much of that has to do with the fact that we have failed to recognize the dual nature of our character. We have, because of this, often failed to discover and cultivate this spiritual side of things. The result is that we go through life confused and full of questions - seeing apparent conconictions and wondering what to do about them. Our company is founded upon numerous principles found in The Bible. For we believe that The Bible is the inspired and unerring Word Of God, the Creator of all that exists, and that He is the only One who is truly God at all. We believe that is HE who creates and sustains us, who is able to heal us and to help us deal with every dimension of life as we experience it. There appears to be no other valid reason that the world exists and functions as it does, including our own bodies. Study the human body with great seriousness. Consider its amazing complexities! Can you, or any scientist you know, explain how the brain functions, sending its complex nerve signals to every portion of the body. Do you comprehend how you arms and legs move? Your fingers and toes?, Your eyes, your ears, your tongue, etc.? How is your food digested and utilized to generate health in your body? How do your ears hear? How do you smell? How does a sperm and an egg become what you are today? Tell me if you can!!! There are those who say we 'evolved' from nothingness into what we are. Can that be the truth? Did your watch on your wrist 'evolve' from a junk yard over 'millions of years' by mere chance? No, there is evidence of purposeful design. And your body is far more complex than any watch ever made. So how is it possible that it 'just happened'? More importantly, if you 'just happened' then why are you here? Do you have a reason for existing? If not, why continue to exist - what's the point of keeping healthy? No, there is far more to life than the physical. There IS a reason we are here. It has to do with the 'spirit'-ual side of our beings. And it is possible for your to discover, as we have, that there is indeed a reason for our lives, a purpose for our existence. What is that purpose? Why are we here at all? For many today it seems that they believe they are only here to satisfy themselves - with power, wealth, fun, position, recognition, sex, money, etc., etc. But what's the point of all those things - really? If you don't have a reason for existing why are those things so important. Fact is, they're not!! We have just been led to believe that somehow they will fill a void within us, an emptiness that seems to drive us to strange efforts to satisfy that hollow longing for meaning and significance - somewhere, somehow, often in the life of another. Perhaps you are caught up in this kind of a search in your own life, maybe without even recognizing that this is what you're about. I want to invite you to recognize that the search for the satisfaction of your own desires, with only one exception, will end in emptiness. It's the only place this search can end, because of its focus. The exception is found in the discovery of TRUTH. And I mean by that TRUTH as found in the Biblical statement made by Jesus The Christ - "I am the Way, The Truth, and The life, no man comes to the Father but by (or through) Me." John 14:6 To search for Truth in our lives is natural. It's a desire that is placed in us from the beginning by the God who created you. It's there because HE is Truth!!! And HE wants YOU to find Him!!! He wants you to recognize that He is the One who created you, who sustains you, who heals you, who provides for you, who allows you to take each breath, to hear, to see, to feel, to touch, and to to all that you do. Without Him you simply cannot do any of these things. God IS real!!! And there is something He wants YOU to understand - HE LOVES YOU! HE wants to have a relationship with you that is personal and fulfilling! He is Truth, and because of this you can depend on HIM as you cannot do with ANY human being, including yourself!!! God makes Himself available to ANYONE who is truly interested in discovering Him. But you have to decide to search for Him - earnestly - before He is willing to reveal Himself to you. He doesn't want someone who is only seeking Him selfishly to see what they can 'get' out of or from God! In the Book of Deuteronomy it says,"...you will seek the Lord your God and you WILL FIND HIM if you seek Him with ALL your heart and ALL your soul." Deut. 4:9. In Matthew 7:7-8 it says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For EVERYONE who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Are YOU interested in discovering The Truth in life? Above is the symbol of the Cross. You've seen this symbol before, probably many times. Perhaps you already know the meaning of it. Maybe you don't. It has a very deep significance. Permit me to attempt to help you grasp that significance. The story of the Cross is a Bible story. It's a story about the God who created you and me. And the focus of the story is on God's amazing love for each person He creates. It's also a story about our own search for meaning and significance in life. Remember our discussion of seeking for fame, fortune, and position to fill the void within us? The cross is about that part of our lives as well. You see, God created you with a free will - the ability to choose what you do with your life (which He gave you). He even gave you the ability to refuse to believe that He exists or that He truly cares about you. Since He gave you that tremendous ability He also knew that He would have to do something VERY dramatic in order to present the idea to you that He loves you very much and wants to have a personal relationship with you. The Cross is God's demonstration of His great love for you! On that lonely, painful cross God allowed His only Son, Jesus The Christ, (also known in Hebrew as Yeshua ha Mashiach) to die a horrible death in order to pay the price of your and my selfishness and rejection of God Himself - the denial that He created us or that He even exists. This is the essence of a term called 'sin' - denial of God's rightful place in our lives and disobedience to His desires for our life. This may seem like total foolishness to you. How could God allow His own son to die in YOUR place? Because of YOUR rejection of Him? Therein lies the tremendous paradox of God's love. He is willing to let His own son die in your place, for your 'sin', in order that He might have a close, personal relationship with you. Jesus literally died in order to save you from yourself (and from your selfishness)!!! But Jesus did not stay dead!!! On the third day, the Bible records, God raised Jesus up from death, back to life! God has that power! (Want to talk about healing? Is God able? YES!!) And after He had appeared to His followers Jesus ascended into heaven - where we are told that He is now sitting at the right hand of God the Father pleading your case - interceding for you; telling God the Father that no matter what you have done He has paid the price of His own life to cover it - so that you can now have access directly to a relationship with God the Father in which you can experience His great and amazing love, forgiveness, and a promised future in His presence. Let me identify a couple of Bible verses that speak to this marvelous reality. In Romans 3:10-12 it says, "There is none righteous (without sin), no not one; there is none who seeks after God. They have ALL turned aside." Every one of us stands in need of being forgiven. Then it says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is NOT CONDEMNED; BUT he who does NOT believe in Him is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:16-18. Maybe you recognize that you have either ignored God or actually denied that He even exists. Perhaps you would like to discover the richness of His love and mercy and grace. Jesus died for you. Jesus rose again and now intercedes on your behalf with God Himself. This happened so God could demonstrate that even in your sin He has provided a way for you to have a close personal relationship with Him today!!! Do you desire this? Seriously - do you want this with ALL your heart and soul? Only YOU can decide to give your life to God. He will never force you to do so, nor can anyone else. It is totally up to YOU!! But God requires that you be totally honest and sincere about your desire to have Him in control of your life. If you are serious and want to invite Him to fill the emptiness inside you can do so right now, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. Just tell Him!! In your own words, in whatever way you know how to do it - invite Him to become the Master of your life. Tell Him you want Him to forgive your sin and selfishness and accept you into a close personal relationship with Him from this moment on; that you are willing to seek Him with ALL your heart and mind and strength; that you are willing to live according to HIS desires (obedience to His Word), not your own and not anyone else's! When you have done this in all truth and sincerity the Word of God teaches that you ARE a child of God, already adopted into His family FOREVER!!! God has forgiven your 'sins' of selfishness and disobedience! He has done this through the death and resurrection of Jesus The Christ, Yeshua ha Mashiach!!! Praise God forever!!! Thank Him now for these blessings! Now it is critical that you begin to read His Word, The Bible; to 'pray', which is nothing more and nothing less than entering into conversation with God Himself; and to seek to please HIM in all that you do. And it is important that you seek to find others who believe as you do about Him, so they can offer to you the love and support that you will need as you move along this new journey into unknown areas of experience. I offer you a caution. It is vital that you decide in the very depths of your being that you really do want to change the way you live each day to agree with what God wants in your life - and, that you TRULY want to know God and to love and serve God with ALL your being!! To illustrate this let me ask you a question. If you are not absolutely serious about this why should God even consider listening to you? He's got better things to do than waste His time with someone who refuses to be serious about matters that affect both you and Him for eternity. Don't miss the opportunity to know the God of all creation! I can assure you, you won't regret it - ever! Will you be alive tomorrow? Can you prove it? If not, there is good reason not to take the chance that you will miss out on living in the presence of Almighty God for eternity!! |
