Iosol
By TPCS, Inc.
The most essential nutrient for proper thyroid function is iodine. Iodine is normally found in seafood, vegetables, or fruit. Grown in areas where soil is high in iodine, this soil is usually found near the oceans of the world. Unfortunately many of the foods we consume today are lacking the proper form of iodine your body needs. Iodine, which can be purchased at the pharmacy for cuts and infections, is poisonous and cannot be taken internally. Potassium iodide and sodium iodide are not readily used by the body. We do encourage you to consult your health professional to find out what problem is actually causing your symptoms, and to make sure you are treating the right thing.
Water Soluble 'Free' Iodine Are you tired all the time?
One of the key symptoms of Iodine Deficiency is fatigue. It's certainly not the only one as you'll see below, but it may be a key indicator that your thyroid gland is not functioning properly. And that can have very significant impacts on your health.
According to Means, DeGroot, and Stanbury in "The Thyroid And Its Diseases", McGraw-Hill, 1963, pp 321-322, the following symptoms are among those found when thyroid activity is lower than normal.
Weakness
Dry skin
Coarse skin
Lethargy
Hair loss
Cold sensitivity
Pale skin color
Constipation
Memory impairment
Weight problem
Hoarseness
Edema (swelling)
Depression
Brittle nails
Shortness of breath
Excessive menstrual flow
Decreased sweating
And these are only the major symptoms associated with 'hypothyroidism'. There are others as well, and they are often very subtle. Because of this they are often missed by many doctors as they treat their patients.
The reason there are so many symptoms associated with hypothyroidism, or low thyroid function lies within the reality that the little thyroid gland is among the most important in the body. This one small gland is considered to be the 'thermostat' of the body, controlling the metabolism (rate at which food or nutrients are utilized) of the entire system. If it is not working properly the entire system is affected.
The thyroid is essential for the functioning of the nervous system, hormone production and regulation, oxygen utilization, immune function, cellular metabolism, bone healing, and virtually every other process that occurs in the body since they are all connected in some way to the healthy function of the thyroid gland.
The most essential nutrient for proper thyroid function is IODINE. It is normally found in sea food, vegetables, fruit, etc. grown in areas whose soil is high in iodine (usually near the oceans of the world). Unfortunately many of the foods we consume today are lacking the proper form of iodine your body needs. And there are many, including Dr. David Williams, author of "Alternatives", a monthly health newsletter, who are recognizing a major increase in health problems related to low thyroid function.
There are several forms of iodine available. You can buy iodine at the pharmacy for cuts and infections - but this form of iodine is poison, and not to be taken internally. There are potassium iodide and sodium iodide which are not readily used by the body.
IOSOL is a water soluble form of Iodine, which means it is very readily available for use by the body. It is the only form of 'free' iodine available on the market today. And it is VERY affordable for anyone.
If you want a simple test to determine whether you have low thyroid function try this simple procedure. (Recommended by Dr. Broda O. Barnes, M.D.) Place a thermometer by your bedside, shaken down below 96 degrees before you go to bed. In the morning, before you get out of bed and without a lot of activity, place the thermometer into your arm pit and leave it there for ten minutes. Do this 2-3 days in a row for accuracy. Normal readings should be 97.8 - 98.2. If it is below that you are quite likely hypothyroid. For women, take this reading the 2nd or 3rd day after the onset of the menstrual flow - otherwise the reading may not be accurate.
If you discover your thyroid function is low you may want to begin a regimin of iodine supplementation. IOSOL, the water soluble form of iodine, is an excellent place to begin. But we encourage you to consult your health professional to make sure that there is not some other problem causing your symptoms. It's the only way to be sure you're treating the right thing. IOSOL is not a cure for anything, but it is a very good source of 'free' iodine.(not to be used by those on blood thinners.)
